In the Hindi version of this Concert DVD-book set, the book has only Hindi text with no English translations or notes. The book is printed in black & white on cheaper quality paper and priced at a lower rate to make the product accessible to small town and village audiences.
In 2003, a 15th century mystic poet from north India came alive in the unlikely context of north America, in a performance tour of the Malwi folk singer Prahlad Tipanya organized by the scholar Dr. Linda Hess in 2003. In this DVD live performances of 12 folk songs of Kabir are interwoven with glimpses of this unusual journey, in which rural Indian singers encounter a strange country – a land as ajab (wondrous) as the self Kabir urges us to investigate.
It is accompanied by a 52-page book featuring the 12 Kabir song-poems in original Malwi dialect along with English translations and annotations.
