Educational outreach with Chintan Girish Modi and artist Vishakha Chanchani, a concert by Mooralala Marwada and screenings of Shabnam Virmani’s Kabir based documentaries for the students of the Rajghat Besant School in Benaras.



Chalo Hamara Des will be screened as part of the Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival 2010 in Sun Valley, Idaho(USA). Dr. Linda Hess, who is featured in the film, will provide a reading of poems by Kabir following the screening.




All four films from The Kabir Project to be screened at the Taiwan International Documentary Festival in Taipei.

The Kabir Project has been invited by Muktangan to facilitate a two-day workshop as part of their Diwali teacher training programme. It will include an introduction to Kabir, a screening of the film ‘Had-Anhad’, reflections by filmmaker Shabnam Virmani on her personal journey with Kabir, sharing of music from folk traditions of Malwa, Rajasthan and Kutch. Through all of this, there would be an attempt to link this exposure to the everyday lives of the teachers and the school they teach in. The Kabir Project has been invited to design and facilitate a four-day component in a Refresher Course on the theme ‘Indian Psychology: Emerging Perspectives’ organized by the Department of Psychology, University of Delhi. Resource persons include Shabnam Virmani, Jyoti Sahi (http://jyotiartashram.blogspot.com/), Prahlad Singh Tipanya, Kalpana Tanwar, Apoorvanand, and Chintan Girish Modi.

Prahlad Tipanya is one of the most compelling folk voices of Kabir in India today who combines singing and explanation of Kabir bhajans in the Malwi folk style from Madhya Pradesh. He is performing at a special concert being organized collaboratively by Department of Psychology, Jubilee Hall Students’ Union, and Department of Hindi at Delhi University on the evening of November 24. There is a three day percussion and rhythm workshop happening in Malwa with Parbat Jogi as part of the Malwa Field Support initiative. There will also be a concert by Shabnam Virmani on the 4th of Dec at Sardarpur/Rajgarh in Malwa.
